fear of changing
They didn’t know what to say, but they knew everything would be okay.
They reminded themselves how they had always stayed the same. Never did they know, how the rest had changed, they lied and told them never to change, if they hadn’t have told them such a thing, they would had never stayed the same.
They listened and never questioned a word they said. If we had another chance, they would take it to change.
Every time they would wake up in the same state they did as they slept for thousands of years in the same bed, in the same house they have never left the village they lived in.
Everything happened in the same way, such familiarity, they couldn’t believe how throughout the decades, their faith had never changed … and yet, they still believed.
They would question the skies, with the same thoughts the clouds had recognised long before. They were quick to realise in the last hundred years, they were the ones to blame. With every single day, they believed in a dogma with nowhere to go, a religion where they’re all prisoners with a life sentence.
All these times they never thought how they were always the ones to blame. With every single day that went by, they would ask the gods why they had deceived them. Silence was the same answer they received long ago, and yet, they haven’t tried escaping. It is thought to be a sin, and with every sin comes a fear of everlasting eternity in hell.
They had grown old living in the same way for so long, until they all left the lands for the first time in a thousand years. They thought hell would be a better place than this and they took the risk to sin, or so they thought.
It took them a thousand years to break the routine because they had been scared of something they haven’t seen. They feared a force that never existed. But they believed it for so long, it was real to them anyway.
They were their own prisoners and they had the key to open the cells, but they reminded themselves how they had always stayed the same all these years and never did they know how the rest had changed until they had used the keys given to them from the very start.
